Long-term Apple analyst Ming-Chi Quo says the upcoming iPhone SE 2 will pack a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) antenna sourced from Japan’s Murata Manufacturing Co. The use of LCP antenna will boost network connectivity (wireless/cellular) in the iPhone SE 2 hopefully entailing in speedier, more stable connections across the board. It isn't clear if the iPhone SE 2 will support 5G at this point of time.

LCPs have a couple of unique advantages that make this tech desirable for a broad range of applications and devices ranging from car sensors to optical cables. The tech is said to offer consistent performance with minimal loss, and because it has a very low thermal expansion coefficient it can maintain stability across even at fluctuating temperatures.

iPhone SE 2 expected specs, launch window

Kuo has had a fabled history with Apple related predictions which means the analyst could well be right about this one as well. Previously, Kuo has also revealed a couple of key hardware and design specs of the upcoming iPhone SE 2 as well as its possible launch window as well as its possible pricing. According to the analyst, Apple is gearing to launch the iPhone SE 2 sometime in Q1 2020, at a starting price of $399 which roughly translates to Rs 28,500.

The original iPhone SE was launched with an iPhone 5-like design with the core hardware of the iPhone 6S. The idea was to offer a smaller, more affordable iPhone for developing markets like India. The iPhone SE 2 is said to come with a design similar to the iPhone 8, but it is said to pack the Apple A13 processor – which is also found inside the latest and greatest iPhones. This means that the iPhone SE 2 could be launched with an iPhone 8-like design with the core hardware of the iPhone 11.

Rumours that the iPhone SE 2 is in development have been going around since 2017 but two years down the line, Apple is yet to make any sort of announcement. This could change soon though now that we’re starting to hear so much about the iPhone SE 2.
